Workbook · Part I
Lesson 108
To give and to receive are one in truth.
What this lesson is saying
Today’s idea is: “To give and to receive are one in truth.” In ordinary English: Giving and receiving are one. What you offer the other person is what you keep.
Giving and receiving are the same motion in this teaching. What you offer someone — a blessing, a ranking, a withheld kindness — is what you keep. The insult comes home. The blessing comes home. Give the thing you would like to live in.
You do not have to believe it first. You use the words on one real judgment — of someone, of yourself, of a situation — and then you take the next ordinary step.
This is not saying
This is not a bargain: I will be kind so they will change. It is not keeping score. It is noticing that the mind you use on them is the mind you have to sit in.
Why this can change a day
Relationships stall when we wait to receive first. This lesson makes the first move local: patience, a clean word, attention, a dropped case. That is how the day stops being a ledger.
In your day
Same idea, three ordinary places — a relationship or encounter, the case against yourself, and a situation at work or at home. You do not need a special mood.
With someone
An old argument is playing while someone in front of you is actually speaking.
What to do
Say the words as written: “To give and to receive are one in truth.” Name it: old film. Come back to the voice that is actually speaking. The rehearsal of attack is still attack.
Toward yourself
A child, a dog, a home — something you love, and the tug when the lesson touches it.
What to do
Say the words as written: “To give and to receive are one in truth.” The tug is the teaching — an argumentative position in the mind, not a failure. They are unchanged. The glue was yours.
At work, at home, or in a situation
You look at something you called ugly, annoying, or empty of God — and skip it.
What to do
Say the words as written: “To give and to receive are one in truth.” Say the idea to the thing you did not want to include. If you cannot feel it, say it anyway. The exception is the lesson.
Two voices in the same mind
Hear which one is running. Then today’s idea, on a real person — or on you.
Unloving thought
I can replay yesterday and still be here. The film keeps me ready. That is thinking.
Jesus’s way
“To give and to receive are one in truth.” Give the thing you want: patience, a clean word, attention. Giving is how you find out you had it. Do not keep a debt.

Jesus’s commentary for Lesson 108
Tina reads the official workbook lesson first. Then she channels. The video is the source. The notes below are study notes of that sitting — not a transcript, and not A Year of Forgiveness.
After the reading
In the video · Jesus speaking
This is the channeled portion — after Tina has read the lesson. Study notes of that sitting. Not a transcript.
- On “To give and to receive are one in truth” Jesus through Tina (2019) takes the workbook at its word and applies it to the programmed mind — culture, church, screens — not to a monastery.
- Then let the commentary speak to the resistance that comes up.
- After Tina reads Lesson 108, the channeling is living “To give and to receive are one in truth.” He will not let it stay a slogan. Use these words. Do not swap them for a thought you like better.
How to sit today
Part I · One Self
The idea is above. This is the one sitting this number asks — how often, how long, and the words. Not a second lesson.
- How often
- Five minutes of each hour — the first five minutes of the hour when you can
- How long
- Five minutes
- Through the day
- Repeat the idea between sittings so the hour is not a desert.
- If you forget
- Lesson 95 is the rule for lapses: omit as few as possible, and do not let a lapse become a story that you have failed.
How
- Lesson 108 continues the five-minutes-an-hour training of this stretch. Begin with the idea, close your eyes, and let related thoughts come or simply rest in the sentence.
- If an hour is missed, return at the next one. Do not throw the day away because part of it was forgotten.
Longer sitting

- Begin with the idea. Close your eyes. Let related thoughts come, or simply rest in the sentence.
- Say, slowly: “To give and to receive are one in truth.”
- If an hour is missed, return at the next one. Do not throw the day away because part of it was forgotten. Lesson 95 is the rule for lapses.
Short / hourly
Between sittings, so the hour is not a desert
- Say, slowly: “To give and to receive are one in truth.”

This lesson is practice in polarizing with the person in front of you. Service to others is not a slogan. It is whether you treat them as the same being you are.
