In plain words

A Course in Miracles is 365 days of mind training in forgiveness. That is how you actually graduate in love. Each lesson tells you how often and how long to practice. Do it that way. Use it on a real person, not as a theory.

You do not need a monastery. A quiet room and today’s sentence are enough.
The day is the temple. One idea. A chair. Light already in the room.

One lesson a day

Do not take on more than one set of exercises in a day. The training period is a year. The idea is not to finish the book. It is to let one idea work.

You need not believe it

You are not asked to believe, accept, or even welcome the idea. Resistance does not cancel it. Use it anyway. Nothing more than that is required.

No exceptions

Do not decide that some people, objects, or situations are exempt. The training is generalization. If you make exceptions, you keep the ego's hierarchy.

Time and place

The exercises are simple. They do not need a shrine. Early lessons are often a minute. Later ones ask for quiet morning and evening time, then hourly remembrance. Follow the day's lesson, not a generic routine.

Review days are not lighter — they have their own method. Part II drops the clock and waits. Open Glossary if Holy Spirit, ego, or “practice period” are still opaque.

Part I · Undoing

Nothing I see in this room [on this street, from this window, in this place] means anything.

My meaningless thoughts are showing me a meaningless world.

A meaningless world engenders fear.

God did not create a meaningless world.

My thoughts are images that I have made.

I have no neutral thoughts.

I see no neutral things.

I am not alone in experiencing the effects of my seeing.

What I see is a form of vengeance.

I can escape from the world I see by giving up attack thoughts.
