Workbook · Part I
Lesson 10
My thoughts do not mean anything.
What this lesson is saying
“My thoughts do not mean anything.” A thought is not you, and it is not a verdict. Meaning-making is the ego’s craft — turning a passing line into a self or an enemy.
Thoughts arise. Letting one pass without a gavel is already a miracle at this stage: a small refusal to be the commentator. Do not lengthen the sitting to prove anything. A loud thought between sittings can take the idea too.
This is not saying
This is not “I am worthless.” It is “this thought is not a report from God.” Do not build a self from it, and do not build an enemy from it.
Why this can change a day
Most attack on others and most attack on yourself begins as a thought treated as a fact. If the thought can pass, the war does not have to start.
In your day
Same idea, three ordinary places — a relationship or encounter, the case against yourself, and a situation at work or at home. You do not need a special mood.
Toward yourself
A thought says you are failing, behind, not enough — and it feels like a report from God.
What to do
This thought about me does not mean anything. Let it be a thought. Watch it pass. Then the next decent hour.
With someone
A thought says they are the problem — and it feels like a report from reality.
What to do
Same sentence about them. Then look at the person, not the thought.
In the day
Commentary while you wait — ranking, planning their punishment, planning your defense.
What to do
Tag it. It does not mean anything. Do not follow it into a remark. Take the next ordinary step.
Two voices in the same mind
Hear which one is running. Then today’s idea, on a real person — or on you.
Unloving thought
This thought is me. I am failing. They are the problem. A thought is a report from reality. I have to follow it.
Jesus’s way
My thoughts do not mean anything. Not ‘I am worthless.’ A thought is not a verdict and not a report from God. Do not build a self from it, and do not build an enemy from it.

Jesus’s commentary for Lesson 10
Tina reads the official workbook lesson first. Then she channels. The video is the source. The notes below are study notes of that sitting — not a transcript, and not A Year of Forgiveness.
After the reading
In the video · Jesus speaking
This is the channeled portion — after Tina has read the lesson. Study notes of that sitting. Not a transcript.
- Meaningless thoughts showing you a meaningless world: the world is reporting your mind back to you.
- He does not ask you to despise the world.
- He asks you to stop believing the report is God.
How to sit today
Part I · Undoing
The idea is above. This is the one sitting this number asks — how often, how long, and the words. Not a second lesson.
- How often
- Five practice periods recommended
- How long
- No more than a minute or so of mind searching. Reduce to half a minute or less if you feel discomfort. Do not extend the time.
- When shaken
- Use the idea at any time on any thought that distresses you.
- Eyes
- Closed
How
- Repeat the idea slowly first, then apply it specifically to the thoughts you find: “This thought about ___ does not mean anything.”
Longer sitting
Five sittings recommended — a minute or less of mind searching. Do not extend the time
- Today’s idea is: “My thoughts do not mean anything.”
- Eyes closed. Repeat the idea slowly first.
- Then apply it to thoughts as they arise.
- Say, slowly: “This thought about [name it] does not mean anything.”
- If discomfort comes, shorten to half a minute. Do not push through by making it longer.
When shaken
Any thought that distresses you
- Say, slowly: “This thought about [name it] does not mean anything.”
Do not push through discomfort by making the sitting longer.
These scripts follow the workbook’s own method for this number — duration, frequency, and the sentences it asks you to use. They are a study paraphrase, not a replacement. Read the official lesson at acim.org and follow any wording it gives that is more specific than this card.

This lesson is practice in polarizing with the person in front of you. Service to others is not a slogan. It is whether you treat them as the same being you are.
