Workbook · Part I

Lesson 94

I am as God created me.

What this lesson is saying

Today’s idea is: “I am as God created me.” In ordinary English: You are as God created you. So is the person irritating you. That is the whole sentence.

You are used to building a self from parents, work, the glass, the mood, the ranking of other people. This lesson says what you are was given, not achieved: as God created you, and so are they. That is not a compliment. It is a fact you practice when the other self-image is loud.

You do not have to believe it first. You use the words on one real judgment — of someone, of yourself, of a situation — and then you take the next ordinary step.

This is not saying

This is not a self-esteem project and not a claim that you are more powerful than God. You will not lose your personality. The sharp edges — the attack on you, the attack on them — can go.

Why this can change a day

If you are a private, failing self, then of course you must defend, compare, and prosecute. If you are as God created you, so is the one who irritated you, and the war has nothing left to stand on.

In your day

Same idea, three ordinary places — a relationship or encounter, the case against yourself, and a situation at work or at home. You do not need a special mood.

  1. With someone

Fear of sitting still. Church and clinic both said listening inward is madness, or special.

    What to do

Say the words as written: “I am as God created me.” Note the fear. It is cultural. Sit anyway. Do not manufacture a voice. Kindness after you stand is a good test.

  2. Toward yourself

You are collecting evidence. The world is a courtroom. Someone should pay.

    What to do

Say the words as written: “I am as God created me.” Drop the wish that someone lose. If a fact must be stated — a bill, a boundary, a time — state only the fact.

  3. At work, at home, or in a situation

You received a kindness and want to store it as specialness, or you are counting what they owe.

    What to do

Say the words as written: “I am as God created me.” Give the thing you want: patience, a clean word, attention. Let it pass through. What you hoard, you lose sight of.

Two voices in the same mind

Hear which one is running. Then today’s idea, on a real person — or on you.

Unloving thought

This is just who I am. This is just who they are. The picture in the glass is the Self.

Jesus’s way

I am as God created me. So are they. That is identity, not a self-esteem project. You are not more powerful than God, so all is well — including the one who irritated you.

  • ‘I am as God created me’ is the antidote he gives for fear, insecurity, and anxiety — instant realignment, not a self-esteem project.
  • You are not more powerful than God, so all is well, including the one who irritated you: they are as God created them too.
  • Nothing is required but silent expectancy.

How to sit today

Part I · One Self

The idea is above. This is the one sitting this number asks — how often, how long, and the words. Not a second lesson.

How often
The first five minutes of each waking hour, plus an hourly minimum if you miss that
How long
Five minutes
Through the day
Hourly at the very least: “I am as God created me.”

How

  1. Begin the five minutes with the idea. Then try to feel the truth in you — not improve yourself, remember yourself.
  2. Each hourly sitting you actually do is called a giant stride. Make the effort.

Longer sitting

The first five minutes of each waking hour

  1. Today’s idea is: “I am as God created me.”
  2. Begin the five minutes with the idea. Then try to feel the truth in you — not improve yourself, remember yourself.
  3. Say, slowly: “I am as God created me.”
  4. Each hourly sitting you actually do is called a giant stride.

Short / hourly

Hourly at the very least, if you miss the five minutes

  1. Say, slowly: “I am as God created me.”

These scripts follow the workbook’s own method for this number — duration, frequency, and the sentences it asks you to use. They are a study paraphrase, not a replacement. Read the official lesson at acim.org and follow any wording it gives that is more specific than this card.

Before the veil, this was obvious. After the veil, it is the work. Higher self holds the memory; you borrow it by asking.

Wanderers especially need this: you did not come here to become a better personality. You came to remember what you already are, under density.
