Workbook · Part I
Lesson 98
I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.
What this lesson is saying
Today’s idea is: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” In ordinary English: Accept your part: forgive where you are. You do not have to run the whole play.
Function here means the job of a mind in a world of grievances: forgive where you are. Not a personality, not a stage, not being impressive. Light means a mind willing to love in the room it is already in. The day will offer replacements — winning, explaining, being owed. They are not the job.
You do not have to believe it first. You use the words on one real judgment — of someone, of yourself, of a situation — and then you take the next ordinary step.
This is not saying
This is not asking you to quit work or to announce that you are holy. Keep the ordinary jobs. Remember which one actually saves the hour: a dropped grievance, including toward yourself.
Why this can change a day
If your real job is being right, then other people are always in the way. If your real job is forgiveness, then the person who bothers you is the assignment, and peace is not waiting on a better cast.
In your day
Same idea, three ordinary places — a relationship or encounter, the case against yourself, and a situation at work or at home. You do not need a special mood.
With someone
A photo, a birthday, a glance at a hand — aging as doom.
What to do
Say the words as written: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” Care for the body. Do not make the photo into God, and do not punish it. Identity is not the glass.
Toward yourself
Unhappiness used as proof you are serious, or holy. Joy looks suspicious.
What to do
Say the words as written: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” Notice where you postponed joy until they change, or until you have suffered enough. Take one hour without that bargain.
At work, at home, or in a situation
A political enemy, a public figure, a ‘them’ you have never met and already hate.
What to do
Say the words as written: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” No exceptions. You do not have to vote for them. You do have to drop the wish to hurt. The mind is the same mind.
Two voices in the same mind
Hear which one is running. Then today’s idea, on a real person — or on you.
Unloving thought
The picture is the Self. Time is hunting me. If I do not fight the picture I disappear.
Jesus’s way
“I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” Your function did not change with the mood. It is local — one face, one hidden kindness. He will not let you wear it as a costume.

Jesus’s commentary for Lesson 98
Tina reads the official workbook lesson first. Then she channels. The video is the source. The notes below are study notes of that sitting — not a transcript, and not A Year of Forgiveness.
After the reading
In the video · Jesus speaking
This is the channeled portion — after Tina has read the lesson. Study notes of that sitting. Not a transcript.
- “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.” Salvation is not a later rescue and not a rapture.
- It is the mind that stopped injuring itself with condemnation.
- Today’s idea is that, in working clothes.
How to sit today
Part I · One Self
The idea is above. This is the one sitting this number asks — how often, how long, and the words. Not a second lesson.
- How often
- Five minutes of each hour, with happy preparation through the rest of the hour
- How long
- Five minutes
- Through the day
- Repeat the idea while you wait for the next five minutes with Him. Do not forget that each repetition readies the mind.
How
- When the hour comes, lay down earthly tasks and spend a happy time with Him. Tell Him you accept the part He would have you take.
Longer sitting
Five minutes of each hour — the first five minutes of the hour when you can
- Today’s idea is: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.”
- Begin with the idea. Close your eyes. Let related thoughts come, or simply rest in the sentence.
- Say, slowly: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.”
- If an hour is missed, return at the next one. Do not throw the day away because part of it was forgotten. Lesson 95 is the rule for lapses.
Short / hourly
Between sittings, so the hour is not a desert
- Say, slowly: “I will accept my part in God's plan for salvation.”
These scripts follow the workbook’s own method for this number — duration, frequency, and the sentences it asks you to use. They are a study paraphrase, not a replacement. Read the official lesson at acim.org and follow any wording it gives that is more specific than this card.

This lesson is practice in polarizing with the person in front of you. Service to others is not a slogan. It is whether you treat them as the same being you are.
