Walk through this chapter
Chapter 20. Each section of this chapter, in order. Ordinary words under a paragraph are the same teaching, said simply. The Text is the map. The day’s workbook lesson is still the walk. Official Text: acim.org.
Holiness as a way of looking
Not a glow around you. What you see when you want to see. Vision is a decision, not a talent. You will see Christ — the innocent true self — where you want to. If you want to see a sinner, you will.
Look at a person until the story of guilt cracks. Stay. That is holiness as this book means it.
The temple
The temple of the Holy Spirit is a relationship used for truth, and also a body no longer used as a weapon. Not a building you must visit.
The next conversation can be the temple. So can a quiet sitting. The use decides.
Lilies instead of thorns
The gift of forgiveness instead of the gift of accusation. You always give one or the other. There is no neutral gift.
What are you actually offering them in this hour — a lily, or a case?
Christ, as this chapter uses the word
The true self you share — theirs and yours. Seeing the Creator in the other is, in Ra, the whole positive path in one act. It does not deny the person. It refuses to let their worst moment be their being.
Look. Stay. The story cracks. You do not have to invent a halo.
Words in this chapter
Vision
Not 20/20 and not a psychedelic overlay. Vision is how the mind sees when it wants to see. The body’s eyes report form; vision reports meaning. “I am determined to see” is a decision, not an optical exercise. Early lessons undo false seeing so vision has room.
Christ
The Self we share — the identity under the ego’s project. Jesus is the one who finished the curriculum first; Christ is what he remembered, and what you are. Seeing “Christ’s face” means seeing past the pose without denying the person in front of you.
Perception
The report your mind writes and then calls “the world.” Perception is not knowledge. It is always interpretation, always of the past until it is forgiven. The first fifty lessons are mostly this: stop treating perception as revelation.
Holiness
Not piety and not cleanliness. Holiness is what you are because of your Source. “My holiness envelops everything I see” is not a claim that you became impressive. It is the refusal to see unholiness as anyone’s identity — including yours.
Spalding
Look at them until the story cracks. Tina's Jesus is visual: the face, the hands, the ordinary holiness.
Open streamRa
Seeing the Creator in the other-self is the whole positive path in one act of vision.
