Text · Chapter 28

The Undoing of Fear

Original study notes. The book remains the book.

In plain words

Fear ends when you notice you agreed to it. The body is a limit the mind asked for. The fear of God is the last fear: if Love is here, the private self is unemployed.

Walk the sections in order. Open ordinary words when a paragraph is heavy. The book remains the book.

Walk through this chapter

Chapter 28. Each section of this chapter, in order. Ordinary words under a paragraph are the same teaching, said simply. The Text is the map. The day’s workbook lesson is still the walk. Official Text: acim.org.

Fear as an agreement

Fear ends when you notice you agreed to it. You are not a victim of fear as a weather system. You have been using fear to prove the separation.

Not a ritual. A change of mind, noticed. You can agree again, otherwise.

The body as a requested limit

The mind asked for a limit so that thought would seem locked in flesh. Care for the vehicle. Undo the agreement that it is you. The palimpsest: writing over writing — old vows still showing through.

See the old writing. You do not have to keep tracing it.

The fear of God is the last fear

If Love is here, the private self is unemployed. That is not fear of a punisher. It is fear of reunion — the end of the story of ‘I.’ Walk toward it.

The veil, in Ra, includes this fear on purpose, so the Choice is free. Walking toward it is the Choice.

How to sit this chapter

When fear arrives, ask: what is this proving? If it is proving I am a body, or proving God is unsafe, that is the agreement. Notice. Choose again. Then feed the body and go on.

Courtesy to the vehicle, and no worship of the fear.

Words in this chapter

Fear

A call for love, dressed as a prophecy. You are never afraid for the reason you think. Fear of God is fear of love, because love would end the private self. “There is nothing to fear” is frequent and short on purpose — fear wants a long story.

The body

A communication device and a learning aid — not your identity and not your enemy. “I am not a body. I am free” is freedom from identification, not disgust. Care for it. Do not obey it as a god. Do not hate it as a proof you failed.

Spalding

You agreed to this density of fear. You can agree again, otherwise. Tina's Jesus is contractual in the best way.

Ra

The veil includes the fear of the Creator. It is the last catalyst. Walk toward it.
