Text · Chapter 31
The Final Vision
Original study notes. The book remains the book.
In plain words
Walk the sections in order. Open ordinary words when a paragraph is heavy. The book remains the book.
Walk through this chapter
Chapter 31. Each section of this chapter, in order. Ordinary words under a paragraph are the same teaching, said simply. The Text is the map. The day’s workbook lesson is still the walk. Official Text: acim.org.
The savior’s vision
Looking at a person and remembering both of you. The final vision is not a sight in the sky. It is a way of seeing that does not end. You walk with Christ because you are that.
The Text closes where it opened: identity. The proof is still the next kindness.
The Self you gave away
The identity you traded for a private story. It was not destroyed. The journey ends as a return — which is why it was never a trip.
You are loved. You are free. Stop postponing both.
The last chapter and the year
The workbook is how this last chapter becomes a year. The Text without the lessons is a map you admire. The lessons without the Text can become a technique. Together they are a way of seeing that does not need to finish in order to begin.
Ra’s farewell is the same vision in another mouth: love and light, the power and peace of the One Creator.
How to sit this chapter
Look at one person today until you remember both of you. Then do the day’s lesson as it asks. That is the final vision as a practice, not as a sunset you wait for.
Begin. The book is over. The seeing is not.
Words in this chapter
Christ
The Self we share — the identity under the ego’s project. Jesus is the one who finished the curriculum first; Christ is what he remembered, and what you are. Seeing “Christ’s face” means seeing past the pose without denying the person in front of you.
Vision
Not 20/20 and not a psychedelic overlay. Vision is how the mind sees when it wants to see. The body’s eyes report form; vision reports meaning. “I am determined to see” is a decision, not an optical exercise. Early lessons undo false seeing so vision has room.
Self / self
Capital-S Self is what God created — one, shared, unchanged. Small-s self is the private story: tired, behind, insulted, impressive. “I am as God created me” is the most repeated idea in the workbook because the small self will not keep it.
Perception
The report your mind writes and then calls “the world.” Perception is not knowledge. It is always interpretation, always of the past until it is forgiven. The first fifty lessons are mostly this: stop treating perception as revelation.
